IGN gives Zune best portable 2006 audio award

Looks like our favorite Redmond gadgets had good luck with the IGN awards of 2006. We mentioned that the Xbox HD DVD got the best peripheral for 2006. In addition, the Zune won the best portable audio award for 2006. The reason being:

"For lack of major innovation in the portable audio market in 2006, the Zune takes the win for at least offering some new features. Betting against Apple is a risky game, and only adventurous consumers will likely make the Zune purchase, however, the Zune hardware itself isn't bad thanks to interesting aesthetics, a bright, animated, and well designed UI, and the potential for expanded WiFi capabilities."
