According to Reuters, the Microsoft Zune could be launched in Europe by the end of 2007.

"Reindorp said Microsoft was not yet ready to officially announce when it would launch the service in Europe but it could possibly be out before the end of the year."

zunepic.gifA couple sites have been testing the song sharing capabilities of the Zune. From their initial results it appears that the Zune will not share over 50% of the songs. This inability to share is not a problem with the Zune, rather the problem appears to be a DRM issue. It's pretty interesting to see how many songs on some labels will not be allowed to be shared.

A new feature in Vista is the ability to add flash memory like a USB flash drive to your PC and use it for virtual memory (emulating a hard disk drive) for fast data retrieval.

Over at ZDNet blogs Ed Bott has a great review of various tests he performed on USB flash drives to see how they stood up against the standards for ReadyBoost use.

One of the big drawbacks of the Samsung Q1 is the lack of pointer capabilities on the joystick. Currently you can move the pointer with the joystick, but the movement as anything but smooth. It appears work is being done by a member of the OrigamiProject.com community. The software it still early in the development phase, but there looks to be hope.

Check it out and download...

The all new US700 series UMPC (via carrypad.com). This UMPC is Vista out of the gate with integrated web cam, Intel Celeron M 1.06 Ghz CPU, 7 inch display and most of the standard features we saw from the 2006 UMPC models. The main thing setting this apart is the design is a bit different, it appears to have a beveled side rather than being flat on the surface, and being loaded with Vista makes it one of the few UMPCs that are.

Imagine my surprise when I hooked up my Zune to my Media Center PC only to learn that the Zune will not sync my recorded TV. This was upsetting, my guess is since we're in between Vista and XP, once Vista is launched we'll be able to sync with the Vista Media Center.

All was not lost for me however. I also happen to have an XP Media Center PC (with two TV cards), which we use to connect to other TVs via Extenders. Since my current Extenders will not work on Vista, I have to keep my Media Center running XP.
