Now that Vista is officially launched, Microsoft has updated the Vista updates site to include Ultimate Extras. Owners of the Vista Ultimate version have available to them extras, currently the extras consist of security features, and games. We'll most likely see more of these down the road.

Microsoft announced the big hoopla over Vista today. Yesterday Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates was all over TV. I watched the Daily Show where he did well, but nothing major stood out from the interview.

Vista is being launched in 39,000 retail outlets around the world and locations online. Some larger retailers are participating in special launch events to celebrate the launch Vista.

XM subscribers, now you have XM Radio on Vista Media Center. XM officially announced the launch today in conjunction with the Vista release.

All major manufacturers are announcing that their PCs are rolling out with Vista on them. Toshiba announced that their notebook line is now shipping with Vista, like the Portégé R400 with the EVDO integration and its Edge display. Other models are soon to be available as well:

With Crossbow just around the corner, it looks like Microsoft will be changing the naming scheme for Windows Mobile products. Now instead of Smartphone, Pocket PC, and others you'll have variations from Windows Mobile. For example, Smartphone may be replaced by "Standard", Pocket PC Phone could become "Professional". This method of naming falls in line with their desktop OS naming scheme.

I got Vista running on my Samsung Q1 a while back. Everything is working great for me. The Vista Media Center experience makes it a new machine.

Over at JKOnTheRun.com there is a discussion on the support for Vista on the Q1. It's an interesting thread to see who's been able to get it working.

Dell posted on their website this weekend Vista availability on select PCs. Prices run the same as their XP counterparts.

Universal announced their clear support of HD DVD as a format. They confirm that will release more than 100 title in 2007 in HD DVD format, with no plans to support Blu-ray.

More than 90% of the titles coming out this year will be in dual format supporting both DVD and HD DVD on the same disk.
